Contrast medium for ultrasonic diagnosis
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:The titled contrast medium consisting of a fluorocarbon emulsion with little toxicity without in vivo accumulation property. CONSTITUTION:A contrast medium for ultrasonic diagnosis consisting of a fluorocarbon emulsion, prepared by incorporating a 6-12C fluorocarbon (FC) with at least one emulsifying agent selected from phospholipids, e.g. egg yolk phospholipid, hydrogenated phospholipids and high polymer nonionic surfactants having 2,000-20,000 molecular weight, e.g. polyoxyethylene, and further a phospholipid as an emulsification assistant for the above-mentioned surfactant as the emulsifying agent, and having 0.05-0.4mu particle diameter. More preferably, a fluorocarbon emulsion containing at least one selected from 6-22C fatty acids, e.g. caprylic acid, salt of the above-mentioned fatty acids and monoglycerides of the above-mentioned fatty acids as an emulsification assistant is added thereto. The composition ratios of the respective components are preferably as follows: 5-50w/v% FC, 2-6w/v% emulsifying agent and 0.01-0.1w/v% emulsification assistant.
