Preparation of long fiber reinforced plastic molded product
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To contrive to improve the productivity of plastic molded products by such an arrangement wherein a long strip of intermediate product which has a fixed crosssectional area and is in semihardened condition is continuously formed by a die, and said intermediate base material is cut into piece of specified length and a specified number of cut base material is collected and press-formed. CONSTITUTION:A roving 50 of glass fiber is drawn out from a winder 11 and it is caused to pass through unsaturated polyester resin not hardened yet filled in a resin impregnating tank 12 and the glass fiber is covered with unsaturated polyester resin. The glass fiber roving 51 thus obtained is arranged in one direction and is continuously sent into a heating and forming die 13 and it is semihardened being heated there and an intermediate base material 52 is obtained by drawing out the glass fiber. The intermediate base material 52 is cut into pieces of 30cm in length and 2 pieces are laminated and placed in the cavity of a metal mold. The metal mold is heated and pressurized for 30min under such conditions as 150 deg.C and 20kg/cm<2>, and a molded product such as a glass fiber reinforced plastic molded product of which fiber content is 60vol% is obtained. The bending strength and bending elasticity of the molded product thus formed are very excellent such as 120kg/mm.<2> and 4X10<3>kg/mm.<2> respectively when dried and 90kg/mm.<2> and 2.5X10<3>kg/mm.<2> respectively when wet.
