Fiber having micropores at surface, and its manufacture
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prepare the titled fiber having excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance, and useful as a filtering material, etc., in high productivity, by melt-spinning a polymer composed of poly(p-phenylene sulfide), etc. at a specific draft ratio, drawing the product under specific condition, and heat-setting the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A resin containing >=70wt% of poly(p-phenylene sulfide) is molten and spun at a draft ratio of >=25, and drawn at a draw ratio DR1 of 1.0-3.3 and a temperature T1 of 15-(Tg+25) deg.C (Tg is the glass transition temperature deg.C of the polymer). The obtained fiber is heat-treated at a stretching ratio DR2 of 0.5-1.5 and a temperature T2 of (Tg+20)-(Tg+180) deg.C, and drawn at a drawing ratio DR3 of 1.05-2.7 and a temperature T2 of 10-(Tg+10) deg.C, then at a draw ratio DR4 of 1.0-2.5 and a temperature T4 of (Tg+90)-(Tg+ 180) deg.C. Finally, the obtained fiber is heat set-at a stretching ratio DR5 of 0.7- 1.3 and a temperature T5 of (Tg+90)-(Tg+180) deg.C to obtain a fiber having micropores with an average pore diameter of 0.003-15mu and a density of 10<8>- 10<12> per 1cm<2> of the outer surface of the fiber.
