Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized image pickup device preventing a video output from being rotated at the rotation of the device, by processing a rotational angle signal from a position detecting circuit electrically to output X and Y coordinates signals and supply these signals to a solid-state image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup optical system 1 is optically opposed to an object and an optical image of the object which is formed by the optical system 1 is picked up by the solid state image pickup element 2. An X driving circuit 3 and a Y driving circuit 4 are connected to a scanning controlling circuit 5 in the image pickup device and sin and cos generating circuits 16, 17 converting the rotational angle signal 12 into sin and cos are connected to the output side of the position detecting circuit 8. The outputs of respective circuits 3, 4 and 16, 17 are processed by multipliers 13a-13d and a subtractor 14 and an adder 15 to supply an X coordinate signal 10 and a Y coordinate signal 11 to the image pickup element 2. In said constitution, a video output signal 9 is prevented from being rotated when the image pickup device is rotated around the optical axis of the optical system 1.
