Optical fiber connector

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the change in the quantity of light transmission owing to a change in temp. or the like by providing an outflow port for an oily material having the refractive index matching with the refractive index of an optical fiber core on the end face of the optical fiber connector provided with an optical fiber in the central part. CONSTITUTION:An outflow hole HL is provided at the end face SF of an optical fiber connector core CT, and an oil tank OT is provided in a tapered rubber part GM. Said tank is connected to the hole HL by means of a pipe PP. Oil having the same refractive index value as the value of the core part of an optical fiber OF is beforehand put in the tank OT. The oil is fed through a feed hole IH by expanding forcibly a valve V1. A valve V2 is opened when the pressure in the tank OT rises. The oil moves through the hole HL toward the optical fiber along the end face SF and fills the part opposed to the core; therefore, the optical fiber is held thoroughly connected with the core through the oil.
