Ink composition with alcohol as chief solvent

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide titled composition prevented from chalking, free from clogging and/or ink blur, thus improved in writing characteristics, comprising a dye or pigment, alcohol solvent, alcohol-soluble resin, and hydroxyalkyl pyridine derivative of specific formula. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) a dye or pigment, (B) pref. 50-75wt% of an alcohol solvent such as ethanol, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, (C) pref. 7-13wt% of an alcohol-soluble resin such as phenolic or ketone resin, and (D) pref. 2-7wt% of a hydroxyalkyl pyridine derivative of formula (R is H, or 1-4C alkyl; n is 1-4) (e.g., propanol pyridine, 2-methyl-6- propanol pyridine). USE:For marking pen, ball point pen for low-viscosity ink, writing utensils for recorders, and stamping.
