Magnetic disk device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To perform accurate tracking, by forming step parts as many as tracks of a magnetic disk on the peripheral surface of a cam fitted on a gear rotating together with the magnetic disk, and bringing the cam in invariable contact with a carriage-side roll. CONSTITUTION:The gear 39 and cam 40 for driving a carriage 11 are fitted rotatably to the shaft 8 of a motor 7 for rotating the magnetic disk through a bearing 41. The rotation of a pulse motor 16 is transmitted to the gear 39 through gears 17 and 18 and a pinion 19 to drive the cam 40. The step parts varying stepwise are provided on the peripheral surface of the cam 40 by as many as the tracks of the disk. The cam 40 abuts on a roll 15 provided to the carriage 11 which is driven, track by track, by the pulse motor 16. Thus, the accurate tracking is performed.
