Magnetic disk device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To facilitate operation and to prevent the fouling and breaking of a disk by opening a lid body which covers an elliptical opening for head contact of a disk cassette with a spring material automatically by a lock piece when the cassette is loaded in a disk device. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disk cassette 11 is provided with the lid body 17, which normally covers the elliptical window part 16 for head contact by the spring material which is not shown in a figure. When the disk cassette 11 is loaded in the cassette holder 15 of the disk device 12, the lock piece 21 provided to the main body 12 locks the lid body 17, which is inhibited from moving in against the elastic force of the spring material, opening the elliptical window part 16. An actuator mechanism 20 controls a magnetic head 19, which contacts the floppy disk 13. When the cassette 11 is unloaded, the lid body 17 is returned automatically by the spring material. Thus, the operation is facilitated and the fouling and breaking of the disk due to dust and finger dirt are prevented.
