Apparatus for detecting speed of recording medium

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To detect the conicidence of the running speed of a recording medium at the time of regeneration and the running speed thereof at the time of recording on the basis of a pilot signal contained in regeneration output, by providing a speed signal forming circuit and a frequency discrimination circuit. CONSTITUTION:In a speed signal forming circuit 32, a cycle speed signal changed corresponding to the running speed of a recording medium is formed on the basis of a pilot signal contained in regeneration output. On the other hand, the frequency of the speed signal is decided in a frequency discrimination circuit 39. By this mechanism, a mode deciding signal corresponding to the kind of the running mode of the recording medium is obtained. By this method, it can be detected whether the running speed of the recording medium at the time of regeneration is coincided with the running speed thereof at the time of recording or not.
