Thixotropic polyurethane composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. which can be easily applied because it exhibits thixotropy and does not cause sags nor runs even when applied to a vertical surface, by using a polysiloxane/polyoxyalkylene block copolymer together with colloidal silica. CONSTITUTION:An isocyanate group-terminated urethane prepolymer (A), a polysiloxane/polyoxyalkylene block copolymer (B) of formula I and/or II (wherein R is a 1-4C alkyl; R' is a 1-4C alkyl or acetyl; l is 1-3; m is 4-60; n is 2-40; x is 0, 2-3; a is 10-100; b is 0, 1-50) in an amount of 0.1-20pts.wt., pref. 0.5- 10pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. urethane prepolymer, colloidal silica (C) such as Aerosil #200 (a product of DEGUSSA) and, if necessary, other additives are blended together to obtain the titled compsn.
