Oleaginous ointment

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide an oleaginous ointment containing a specific dissolution assistant such as propylene glycol and an oily base consisting of diclofenac sodium useful as a non-steroidal anti-phlogistic agent, at a specific ratio, and having improved solubility of the assistant in the oily base. CONSTITUTION:The objective oleaginous ointment is composed of (A) 0.5-5% of diclofenac sodium, (B) 1-50% of dissolution assistant selected from propylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, glycerol, glycerol fatty acid ester, polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether and polyoxyethylene alkyl ester, and (C) 45-98.5% of an oleaginous ointment base preferably plastibase. The oleaginous ointment contains diclofenac sodium which is hardly soluble in the oily base, in dissolved state, and exhibits high drug action.
