Commutator for small-sized motor and its manufacture

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To process each segment piece continuously by forming the segment pieces to a proper shape so that each segment piece can be connected and processed until the commutator is completed from a tabular blank as segments. CONSTITUTION:The commutator consists of an insulating base body A and the segment pieces B. The insulating base body A is formed by a cylinder section 1 and a collar section 2 projected to one side of the cylinder section, radial grooves 4 are formed to the collar section 2, and receiving grooves 5 are formed to the cylinder section 1. With the segment bodies B, the outer circumferential surfaces of the cylinder section 1 of the insulating base body A are covered with them while they are formed by segment plate sections 6, one ends thereof are inserted into receiving grooves 3 on the collar section 2 side, pawl plate sections 7 for connection, which are bent from the inserting ends of the segment plate sections 6, pass through the radial grooves 4 of the collar section 2 and are projected to the outside of the collar section 2, and connecting pawl sections 8, which are bent from the cylinder port sides of the segment plate sections 6 and inserted into the receiving grooves 5 of the end surfaces of the cylinder ports.
