Magnetic recording medium

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having good abrasion resistance and S/N ratio, by contg. a polymer which has at least one or more monomer units having a negative org. group as a component of the copolymer and in which the org. group forms a salt. CONSTITUTION:The negative org. group is preferably a carboxyl group and a residual phosphoric acid group, and the salt is preferably an ammonium salt and an amine salt. An acrylic acid and maleic anhydride are preferrable as the monomer unit because of their particularly outstanding storage stability and dispersibility. The weight average mol.wt. (Mw) of the polymer is used 1,000- 500,000 and preferably 1,000-50,000 range is used. The polymer is used usually at 0.5-15pts.wt. , more preferably 0.5-10pts.wt. range based on 100pts.wt. magnetic powder.
