Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head of easy-to-manufacture structure which is superior in wear resistance characteristic and a magnetic recording characteristic, by using a magnetic material substrate with good workability as a lower core and embedding a magnetic body having greater saturated magnetic flux density than the lower core in a part of the lower core. CONSTITUTION:A pentagonal groove (recessed part) is provided in a partial area at one end part of one surface of the magnetic substrate 1, and the magnetic body layer 2 made of, for example, ''Sendust '' or magnetic alloy, etc., having greater saturated magnetic flux density than the material substrate 1 is embedded in the groove. This magnetic body layer 2 is formed by, for example, sputtering, vapor-deposition, plating, etc. The embedded surface of the magnetic substrate 1 is flattened and a gap forming film 3 with specific thickness G is formed thereupon by using thin-film formation technique.
