Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of an offset quantity when a device is placed horizontally as well as vertically and is used by detecting vertical placing to cancel the offset quantity of a head generated by a positioning mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The positioning mechanism is driven by a positioning voltage of a positioning circuit 3 to position the head, and in this case, a position detecting means 9 detects horizontal placing or vertical placing. In case of vertical placing, a compensating offset generating means 5 generates a compensating offset voltage which cancels the offset quantity generated by the weight of the positioning mechanism. When the means 9 detects vertical placing, the means 5 adds the offset voltage to the positioning voltage to apply them to the positioning mechanism. As the result, the offset quantity is not generated in the head in case of vertical placing as well as horizontal placing.
