Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the weather resistance of a coating film without causing an increase in cost and lowering in coating workability, by incorporating titanium oxide having a specified particle size in a solvent type pigmented paint. CONSTITUTION:In a method for improving the weather resistance of a coating film by incorporating titanium oxide in a solvent type pigmented paint, titanium oxide having a particle size of smaller than 0.2mu, e.g. 0.01-0.06mu is used. A paint contg. a given quantity of titanium oxide having a small particle size exhibits less changes in color and gloss than the one contg. no titanium oxide. When the quantity of titanium oxide to be blended is constant, changes in gloss and color is reduced with an increase in titanium oxide having a smaller particle size. When the quantity of titanium oxide having a larger particle size is constant, the color is kept constant even if the mixing quantity of titanium oxide of a smaller particle size is increased.
