Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To enable to print on an object to be printed by holding a printer by the hand, by a method wherein both detection of a printing timing and conversion of a character, a symbol, a figure or the like to be printed into a dot pattern are performed by a moved position signal fed from a movement quantity detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A heat-sensitive recording head 9 is pressed against the object to be printed through a heat-sensitive ribbon, and the movement quantity of the head 9 is detected by a pulse-generating wheel 11. Printing information from an external computer is stored in a character code memory circuit 6 through an interface 5, and when the movement quantity reaches one dot row, a total controlling circuit 12 converts the code of the character to be printed into a character pattern through a character pattern memory circuit 7, prints the one dot row by the head 9 through a head-driving circuit 8, then prints the 2nd row, the 3rd row ... sequentially, thereby printing a desired character on the object. Accordingly, printing on various kinds of objects can be performed by holding the printer by the hand, pressing the printer against the object and moving the printer.
