Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding contact material using oxides which are produced during sliding as a lubricant and having improved wear resistance by adding small amounts of one or more among Nb, In, Ba and Cd and an Fe group metal to a Pd-Ru alloy having a specified composition. CONSTITUTION:This sliding contact material is obtd. by adding 0.5-15wt% one or more among Nb, In, Ba and Cd to an alloy material consisting of 87-93wt% Pd and 7-13wt% Ru without changing the ratio in the composition or by further adding 0.01-0.5wt% Fe group metal such as Ni. Oxides of one or more among Nb, In, Ba and Cd are produced in the sliding contact material during sliding, and the oxides act as a lubricant to improve the wear resistance. The contact material produces little powder owing to wear and hardly generates noise, so a brush contact having stable and low contact resistance can be obtd.
