Charge transfer complex
Abstract
Abstract NEW MATERIAL:A charge transfer complex of formulaI(X1-X4 are H, alkyl, amino, N-substituted amino, nitro, halogen). EXAMPLE:A charge transfer complex of N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(p-diethylaminophenyl)-p-phenylenediamine with iodine. USE:Electrically conductive infrared ray absorbent: since it has high stability and high solubility in organic solvents, the product is mixed with a polymer solution in an organic solvent and made into a film by the casting method to disperse in the polymer to molecular order advantageously. The dispersion of a trace amount of the product in a polymer gives infrared ray absorption property as well as antistatic one. It can be applicable to a variety of photoelectric elements such as for solar cells. PREPARATION:For example, a compound of formula II and iodine are heated in organic solvent such as methanol, if unsoluble substances are observed, they are filtered off, while being hot, if necessary, solvent is concentrated, then cooled and the precipitating crystals are filtered to give the compound of formulaI.
