Liquid crystal composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal composition exhibiting nematic state in a wide temperature range including ultra-low temperature, having high response even in a low temperature range, and balanced first and last transitions of the response, by using several kinds of compounds each of which is represented by respective specific formula. CONSTITUTION:The objective liquid crystal composition is prepared preferably by compounding (A) <=30(wt)% compound of formulaI(R1 is 2-7C straight- chain alkyl), (B) <=30% compound of formula II (R2 is 3-7C straight-chain alkyl; R3 is 2-5C straight-chain alkyl or 2-5C straight-chain alkoxy), (C) 35% compound of formula III (R4 is same as R1; R5 is 2-7C straight-chain alkyl or 2-5C straight-chain alkoxy), (D) <=20% compound of formula IV (R6 and R7 are same as R1), (E) <=10% compound of formula V (R8 is 3-5C straight-chain alkyl; R9 is 1-6C chain alkoxy), and more preferably (F) <=7% compound of formula VI (R10 is 5-7C straight-chain alkyl).
