Magnetic card reader

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To ensure close contact of a magnetic head without using a roller by holding a magnetic head with two elastic pieces and two holding members that pivot their ends and making the reading face of the magnetic head rotatable against inclination of a card. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 16 protrudes to a card passage 13 in a supported state. The position of the reading face 16a is kept at a fixed place by a positioning member 29. When a magnetic card 14 is moved manually along the card passage 13, the magnetic head 16 is pushed up in the direction of the arrow 34 by the thickness of the card 14. Consequently, the magnetic head 16 is further energized by restoring force of elastic members 30, 31, and comes into close contact with the magnetic card 14. Shrinkage of elastic members 30, 31 in left and right direction caused by upward movement of the magnetic head 16 appears as sliding of the first rodlike part 24 against a supporting member 19.
