Optical plug relay sleeve
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive sleeve of simple structure by providing >=2 retaining pieces in the internal space of a cylinder, and thus constituting a relay sleeve. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber cable 11 has a core 12, reinforcing material 13, and clad 14 concentrically. An optical plug 10 has an axial through-hole internally, a through-hole 15 for a large-diameter cable on the rear side, and a through-hole 16 for a small-diameter core on the front side, and the cable 11 is stuck to the plug 10 by using an adhesive 17. The front of the optical plug 10 has a constant-diameter cylinder surface 18. Plugs 10 and 10 are inserted into a relay sleeve 1 from plug insertion openings 4 and 4 on both ends. Each optical plug 10 moves forth while pressing up a retainer piece 2 by its tip chamfered part 19 and abuts on the other plug near the middle point M of the sleeve and in this state, the retainer piece 2 presses the optical plug 10, which is retained by its elastic force. Thus, two optical plugs are connected together through this sleeve.
