Hot melt adhesive composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:The titled composition, prepared by incorporating a specific styrene- isoprene block branched chain copolymer with a petroleum resin, rosin resin and a plasticizer in a specific proportion, having well balanced tackiness, adhesive property and cohesive force and good operability. CONSTITUTION:A hot-melt type adhesive composition prepared by incorporating (A) 100pts.wt. block copolymer expressed by the formula (S-I)nX[(S) is a polymeric block of an aromatic monovinyl hydrocarbon, preferably styrene; (I) is a polymeric block of isoprene; (n) is an integer >=3; (X) is a coupling residue having joined n polymeric chains]with (B) 25-175pts.wt. petroleum resin, e.g. the aromatic type, (C) 25-175pts.wt. rosin resin, e.g. natural rosin, in such a proportion as to give 50-200pts.wt. total amount of the components (B) and (C), and (D) 0-200pts.wt. plasticizer, e.g. an extender oil for rubber. Preferably, the number-average molecular weights of the components (S) and (I) are 5,000- 50,000 and 10,000-100,000 respectively, and the content of the component (S) is 10-50wt%.
