Production of nonyellowing polyurethane molding
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To produce the titled molding freed from yellowing due to high temperatures or ultraviolet rays, by reacting a specified cyclic hydrocarbon polyol or heterocyclic polyol with an isocyanate in a mold in the presence of an organometallic salt catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The titled molding is produced by reacting a polyurethane- forming composition containing (A) a cyclic hydrocarbon polyol and/or heterocyclic polyol having at least two hydroxyl groups on the terminals, represented by formulaI, II, III, wherein R1 is cycloalkyl, phyenylene, naphthylene or a group of formula IV or V, or one of these groups having a substitutent such as alkyl, cycloalkyl or allyl, R2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, allyl or phenyl, n is 2-8 and m<=1, (B) an aromatic, aliphatic or cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate, NCO index 90-130, and (C) an organometallic salt catalyst, in a mold. The polyols of formulasI-III provide urethane bonds of good stability, and accordingly yellowing due to high temperatures or ultraviolet rays can be nearly completely prevented.
