Optical cable
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To increase the density of optical cable by composing each cable unit of a laminate of tape optical cores, a buffer material covering it, and a pipe provided around the buffer material, and then forming an optical cable of a signal optical cable unit or its assembly. CONSTITUTION:A tape optical core 1 is formed by covering optical fibers which each have a buffer layer 3 and are arrayed in parallel with a coating layer 4. An optical cable unit 5 consists of a laminate of tape optical cores 1, a buffer layer 7 formed around the laminate, and a metallic pipe 8 provided around the buffer material. An optical cable is constituted by providing a plastic sheath, etc., around a single optical cable unit 5. In another way, plural optical cable units 5 are stranded around a tension member 11 having an external plastic coating layer 10, and a laminate sheath 9, etc., is provided around them, thereby constituting an optical cable. Thus, the density of the optical cable is increased.
