Connecting device for optical fiber

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To perform the polishing work stably and easily, by polishing simultaneously matched end faces of optical fibers on the same plane formed with matched end faces of cores. CONSTITUTION:Cores (2a) and (2b) are connected in one side parts by a hinge 4 so that they are freely opened or closed and matched to each other. A hook button is provided as a hooking device 8 in the other side part of the core 2b and is freely attached and detached to and from the other side part of the core 2a. Pads 9 are provided in side parts on the side of the hinge 4 to restrict the opening angle so that matched end faces of cores 2a and 2b are placed on the same plane. End parts of two optical fibers 1 inserted to cores 2a and 2b are simultaneously polished by abrasives 11 such as an abrasive stone so that these end parts become to locate on the samd plane as matched end faces of cores. Since two optical fibers 1 are supported in cores 2a and 2b, the polishing work is performed stably.
