Image pickup system for stereoscopic television

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To simplify the mechanism by obtaining two types of left and right image pickup signals with one set of television camera, and adjusting the reflecting angle of two mirrors reflecting two left and right incident beams of light accompanied with the focusing for the same amount of left and right angles. CONSTITUTION:A luminous flux of the same object O is made incident to an image pickup lens 10a of a television camera 10 with mirrors 11, 12 and a total reflection mirror 13. Optical switches 14, 15 are provided between the mirrors 11, 12 and the mirror 13 and operated in synchronizing with a vertical synchronizing signal of television, alternately turned on or off and the two incident beams of light are alternately applied to the camera 10. In a combined total reflecting mirror 13, two mirrors 16, 17 are mounted upper and lower with a symmetrical angle to an optical axis by taking the optical axis of the lens 10a as the boundary, and the upper and lower mirrors 16, 17 totally reflect luminous flux from the two left and right mirrors 11, 12 and the flux is incident to the lens 10a.
