Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To maintain idle speed at a suitable value even in case of control system failure, by driving an actuator for driving an intake air volume control means together with auxiliary actuators provided in addition to the former actuator when the idle speed is abnormal. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm type actuator 5 is provided for driving a throttle valve 3 disposed in the intake pipe part 2 of an engine 1, and as well a control correction device 20 provided with auxiliary actuators 21, 22 is disposed in an idel speed control device comprising a microcomputer 13 for controlling solenoid valves 11, 12 arranged in an atmospheric pressure pipe passage 9 and a negative pressure pipe passage 10, respectively. The microcomputer 13 receives information such as, for example, information D1 from an idle detector 14 for calculating the target and actual values of the idle speed, and delivers an abnormal signal S3 or S4 independence upon their values when they do not coincide together more than a predetermined time period, for actuating either one of the actuators 21, 22, thereby a valve 3 is controlled.
