Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:A herbicide having a wider insecticidal spectrum than each of component compounds by its small amount, obtained by blending 3-[2-nitro-5-(2- chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-phenoxy]-tetrahydrofuran with a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:3-[ 2-Nitro -5- ( 2-chloro -4- trifluoromethylphenoxy ) -phenoxy]- tetrahydrofuran having a herbicidal effect on weeds in a paddy field, such as Echinochloa oryzicola Vasing, etc. weeds in a plowed field, such as large crab- grass, etc. is blended with one or more acetanilide compounds such as 2-chloro- 2,6-diethyl-N-(n-butoxymethyl)-acetanilide (compound A) shown by the formula (X is Cl, or benzthiazole-2-yloxy; R1 is lower alkyl, or alkoxyalkyl; R2 is phenyl, 2,6-diethylphenyl), having strong herbicidal activity against Echinochloa crus- galli, in a weight ratio of the former to the latter of 1:(0.2-10) when the latter is the compound A.
