Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To ensure an automatic reset to a normal operation, by detecting that a head has a runaway outside the regions of the most outer and inner circumferences of a disk recording medium, and then producing the control signal to stop the revolutions of a motor or to reverse the motor. CONSTITUTION:A dricing motor 1 drives a spindle pulley 4 via a pulley 2 and a belt 3. A magnetic head 6 is held by a carriage 7 and has reciprocal motions along a guide shaft 8 and by the revolutions of a rotary shaft 10 of a step motor via a spiral plate 9 which functions as a plate cam having a spiral groove. The carriage 7 has limit switches SW1 and SW2 which are pressed by working bars 13 and 14 at its both ends. The fact that the head 6 arrives at the most inner or outer circumference of a recording track is detected by the closure of the switches SW1 and SW2. Then the revolutions of the step motor are stopped or reverse. As a result, a runaway of the head 6 is prevented to protect the head from the breakdown.
