Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To exactly store an optical fiber core in an adjacent groove in the outside circumferential circle of a spacer with a spiral groove, by filling the groove of the spacer with a jelly-like waterproof agent, embedding the optical fiber core in this groove, and performing metallic covering onto the outside circumference in that state. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 2-1 having a spiral groove on its outside circumference, which has been supplied from a feed reel 5 is made to pass through a filling device 6, the inside of a groove 2-2 of the spacer 2-1 is filled with a jelly-like waterproof agent 4, and after that, an optical fiber core 3 supplied from a rotary cage is embedded in the vicinity of the opening part of the groove filled with the waterproof agent 4. Subsequently, a metallic tape 8 is made to run with the outside circumference of the spacer 2-1, is butted and cylindrically molded by a molding device 9, the butt part is welded by a welding electrode 10, and a metallic pipe 2-3 is formed, by which an optical fiber unit 2 is obtained. Subsequently, on the outside circumference of this unit 2, plural pieces of electric conductor stranded wires 1 are placed.
