Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To easily manufacture a hollow and light crank shaft, by inserting a U type metallic pipe into a pair of upper and lower die recessed cavities which have connected orthogonally a shaft part recessed cavity and a crank pin recessed cavity by a crank arm recessed cavity, and executing bulging by feeding a fluid into the metallic pipe under pressure. CONSTITUTION:In a lower die 1 of dies forming an upper and lower pair, a shaft part recessed cavity 2 and a crank pin recessed cavity 3 are connected by a crank arm recessed cavity 4 orthogonal to both recessed cavities 2, 3, whose both end parts 4a, 4b cross over both recessed cavities 2, 3 and project a little to the side. Into the recessed cavities 2, 3 and 4 of this lower die 1, a U type metallic pipe 5 which has bent an important part 5a in advance so as to project it to the side, and has necessary length and an eccentric amount is inserted, and it is covered with an upper die having recessed cavities corresponding to the recessed cavities 2, 3 and 4 of the lower dic 1. One end of the metallic pipe 5 is blocked up, a fluid P is feed from the other end under pressure and bulging is executed by which a hollowlike crank shaft having bulged parts 12a, 14b is formed.
