Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a hanging cable for an abyss with a high space factor by twisting tension members and optical fibers together. CONSTITUTION:In the figure, 31 is optical fibers, 32 is the outer double nylon sheath of 31, 33 is FRP strands as tension members, and 34 is a polyethylene sheath. The FRP strands as tension members and the optical fibers are twisted together to enhance the space factor. Tension is applied to the FRP strands, and the optical fibers are free from tension.
