Testing method of magnetic disk device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To realize an assured test of a magnetic disk device, by adding a simple circuit that reads out the address information at a defective position on a magnetic disk medium and invalidates the result of comparison between the reading information read out of a corresponding region and the reference information. CONSTITUTION:The data written onto a disk medium are successively read out by a magnetic head and fed to a comparator 5 to be compared with the reference data. When a medium is tested, the integrated defective position information is fed to the comparator 5 as the mask information from a storage circuit 4. Thus the result of comparison is invalidated. Furthermore, in case an error is detected through the cmparison, the reading data stored in a reading data buffer storage circuit 7 is read out to check the contents of the error. Thus the masking of the reading data is carried out simply by setting a test result of the medium to the circuit 4, and a defetive position which is detected when a magnetic disk device is tested can also be discriminated in a simple way.
