Microstrip antenna
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To suppress excitation due to an unnecessary higher order mode, by supplying different electric powers of an equal amplitude and opposite phases to two points which are symmetrical to the center of a microstrip antenna. CONSTITUTION:Two points A and B which are symmetrical to the center O of a microstrip antenna 11 are used as feeding points. Electric powers of an equal amplitude and opposite phases are supplied to each feeding point. Since the surface electric current generated by the excitation of the lowest order mode by the feeding to the point A and that generated by the excitation of the lowest order mode by the feeding to the point B show the same distribution mode, they strengthen with each other. On the contrary, the surface electric current generated by the excitation of the secondary higher order mode by the feeding to the point A and that generated by the secondary higher order mode by the feeding to the point B show opposite distribution modes and, therefore, they weaken with each other.
