Measuring lance immersed in melt metal
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate both possible melting and bending of a measuring lance due to the flying and adhesion of melted metal by upgrading the cooling capacity thereof with the area of the cooling water passage so lessened to increase the flow velocity. CONSTITUTION:A lance is composed of an outer tube 1, a middle tube 2, an inner tube 3 and a compensation conductor 4 inserted into the inner tube 3 and a cooling water flows between the outer tube 1 and the middle tube 2 and the middle tube 2 and the inner tube 3. To decrease the passage area, a spiral plate 12 is welded securely on the middle tube 2. The cooling water fed with a water supply flexible hose 5 makes a U turn at the tip A and flows into a drain. The water force cools the inner surface of the outer tube 1 with a sharp increase in the flow velocity to 6m/sec-15m/sec as it enters the portion whose passage area is made smaller to 1/1.2-1/3 the previous one with spiral plate 12 securely welded on the middle tube 2 and after absorbing external heat, flows down to a flexible hose 6 for drainage.
