Main magnetic pole for magnetic head for vertical magnetizing recording

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve recording and reproducing characteristics, by forming one end of a main magnetic pole of a vertical magnetizing recording magnetic head as an edge shape and another end as a smooth shape. CONSTITUTION:A main magnetic pole alpha' of an exciting system using an auxiliary magnetic pole 3 is formed for one end as an edge shape and for another end as a smooth shape and the thickness d' is made larger than a recording wavelength. Thus, the strength of a magnetic field near the main magnetic pole alpha' represents a large peak value H2 at the edge part. Since recording is done for a magnetic tape 1 through the use of a strong magnetic field of the edge part of the main magnetic pole, excellent recording characteristics can be obtained and the reproducing characteristics can also be improved.
