Constructing method of bed plate for fitting z type propulsion unit in ship

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate a troublesome bedplate block fitting work which is usually performed by installing a boring machine inboard by a method wherein the machined bedplate body is set on and fixed by welding to a receiving part formed by a cylindrical wall plate and frames. CONSTITUTION:The upper surface A of the bedplate body 28 comprising an upper and an lower annular plates 28a and 28b, a cylindrical member 28c and ribs 28d is made smooth by machining. The receiving part 30 is formed by the upper part of the cylindrical wall plate 26 fitted onto a hull 24 and the stepped parts of the frames 22. The propulsion unit fitting bedplate is constructed by fitting the bedplate body 28 on said receiving part 30. The constructing method as mentioned above eliminates the necessity of the inboard installation of a boring machine for surface finishing and facilitates the fitting of the bedplate body 28.
