Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent in advance an insulator of a coil for a high voltage rotary electric machine from breaking by selectively connecting a core and a high voltage conductor via an optical-to-electric converter to a conductor which is connected through a semiconductive tape wound on a ground insulating layer and an electric-to-optical converter. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductive tape 3 is wound on the half part in thickness of a ground insulating layer 2 in the interiorIof a rotary electric machine, the end of tape 3 is connected to a lead wire 4, which is connected to an electric- to-optical converter 5 which is fixed to the surface of the layer 2 at the bent part of a coil end, and is connected to the conductivity detector 7 at the exterior II of the machine through an optically converting optical fiber OF6 and a switch SW1. Optical-to-electric converters 9, 11 are respectively connected via lead wires 12, 14 to a core 13 and a high voltage conductor 1. In this manner, the streamer advancing state in the ground insulating layer can be detected, thereby preventing in advance the insulator from breaking.
