Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the driving efficiency of a supercharger and to prevent occurrence of shocks caused at the time of starting operation of the supercharger, by providing a control means for raising discharge pressure of the supercharger with increasing of the engine load. CONSTITUTION:In addition to a main intake system 2, there is provided a subsidiary intake system 5 having a supercharger 18 driven by an engine 1. When a main throttle valve 10 is opened to a large angle with increasing of the load acted to the engine 1, an electromagnetic clutch 20 is coupled and the supercharger 18 is set into operation for feeding pressurized air. In association with opening of the main throttle valve 10, a subsidiary throttle valve 25 is also opened, so that supercharged air is supplied to a combustion chamber 3 from the subsidiary intake system 5, in addition to fresh air supplied from the main intake system 2. Here, by the function of a control means 28, the discharge pressure of the supercharger 18 is raised with the load of the engine 1. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to improve the driving efficiency of the supercharger and to prevent occurrence of shocks at the time of starting operation of the supercharger.
