Controller for different peripheral rolling speed

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To properly perform the speed control of upper and lower rolls having different peripheral speeds respectively and to improve the quality and yield of a rolled strip, by providing stand-speed setters independently to the respective upper and lower rolls, in a continuous hot strip rolling mill by the different pheripheral speeds of the upper and lower rolls. CONSTITUTION:A strip 5 is rolled by upper and lower rolls 1iT and 1iB having different peripheral speeds respectively at the finish mill in a 7-stages type hot mill. In this case, speeds of all stands of the mill are controlled by one main speed setter 7 and further, a pair of stand speed setters 8iT and 8iB are independently provided to the upper and lower rolls in order to set the different prescribed speeds to both the rolls, respectively and; simultaneous acceleration or deceleration is performed by the setter 7 and vernier speed control is performed by a vernier controller 10i, and the speeds of driving motors 2iT and 2iB for the upper and lower rolls 1iT and 1iB are controlled by correcting said driving motors in accordance with the ratios of set values of respective stand speed setters 8iT and 8iB with the aids of different peripheral-speed-gain controllers 11iT and 11iB to improve the quality and yield of the rolling strip.
