Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To output accurately a requested picture from a large quantity of pictures, by managing a table of the correspondence between field addresses of pictures and arrangements of their reduction pictures in a synthesized picture to output the synthesized picture or an objective picture in accordance with the indication from the external. CONSTITUTION:The output request of a reduction picture as contents of a table is given to an input indicating part 5 by a retrieving person, and this request is converted to an output instruction in the indicating part 5 to give an indication signal 10 to a controlling part 6. A file address 11 is applied from the controlling part 6 to a picture file device 1, and a prescribed number of original pictures 7 stored in the device 1 are read out successively and are inputted to a reducing part 2. Read-out original pictures 7 are thinned and are subjected to electronical processings such as OR in the reducing part 2, and a prescribed number of reduction pictures 8 is inputted to a synthesizing part 3 and these reduction pictures 8 are arranged in the synthesizing part 3 to generate a reduction picture 9 as contents of a table, and this picture 9 is applied to an output part 4. The synthesized picture or objective picture are outputted in accordance with the indication from the external, and thus, a requested picture is outputted accurately from a large quantity of pictures.
