Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate a mishandling that good articles are removed and bad articles are handled as good ones, by allowing the secure detection of holes opened on a tape carrier by a photosensor, regarding the tape carrier used when assembly of an integrated circuit device by a TAB method. CONSTITUTION:To discriminate whether an IC is good or not, a metallic pad 8 is provided, and a through-hole 9a is opened thereon. The pad size without detection mistakes may be a square with sides of 5mm. or over to the hole with a diameter of 1mm.. Or opening a hole on a part of a wiring pattern as 9b is available. In this case, a pad 6 is formed slightly larger so that an electrical test can be performed even after opening a hole. When the color of an insulating film 1 is relatively dense, it is sufficient that the entire circumference of the hole is not metallic, but a part thereof only is covered with a metal as 9c.
