Acrylic copolymer, production thereof, paint therefrom and its use

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:A cathode-depositable electropaint comprising a linear copolymer prepared from an acrylic acid derivative and a compound prepared from a halomethylstyrene and an amine. CONSTITUTION:A novel N-containing acrylic resin which can be deposited on a cathode by electrodeposition and comprises, as structural components, repeating units of formulaeIand II, wherein R1 and R2 are each H, 1-20C alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl or aminoalkyl or 6-20C aryl, R3 is H, methyl, halogen, carboxymethyl or acetoxy, R4 is H, 1-20C alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkenyl or the like. It is preferred that the weight fraction of the portion of formulaIto the copolymer is 1-90wt%, particularly 5-30wt%.
