Production of toner

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a toner which has high resistance to blocking, impact, etc. by further crosslinking the crosslinked polymer having Mw/Mn ratio between weight average mol. wt. Mw/number average mol. wt. Mn at a specific value or above and a melt index MI in the range of a specific value in the stage of melting and kneading. CONSTITUTION:A resin having crosslinking reactivity and a low molecular crosslinking agent are added in suitable amts. to a crosslinked polymer of styrene- butyl acrylate-methacrylic acid-divinyl benzene (monomer ratio 75:20:5:0.7) having >4 Mw/Mn and >100,000 Mw, and 0.01-10g/10min MI in 10kg load at 110 deg.C and the mixture is kneaded to progress crosslinking reaction to obtain the toner which has no offsetting and blocking properties, has excellent chargeability and is suited for fixing with a heat roll. The uniform toner is obtd. more easily than by kneading the coloring material, etc. to the polymer which is crosslinked thoroughly from the beginning.
