Preparation of straight chain alpha-olefin
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a 4-8C straight chain alpha-olefin in high selectivity and catalyst yield, by using a zirconium compound having a specific phenoxy group and an organoaluminum compound having a specific phenoxy group as a catalyst in catalytically oligomerizing ethylene. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene is brought into contact with a catalyst consisting of a zirconium compound of formula I (R<1> is 1-12C alkyl or aralkyl; X is electron attracting group; p and m are integers 0-3; particularly preferably p is not 0 and the 2- and 6- positions of the phenoxy group are not substituted by Xp groups at the same time) and an organoaluminum compound of formula II (R<2> is 1- 12C alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; Y is halogen, particularly Cl or Br; n is 1 or 2, particularly 2) and oligomerized to give a 4-8C straight chain alpha-olefin useful as a modifying monomer in the field of preparing 2-3C polyolefins.
