Production of reinforced rubber composition
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compsn. which can form vulcanized articles having excellent strength and modulus and is suitable for tire members by mixing a liquid diene rubber/nylon block copolymer with a vulcanizable rubber and melt- extruding the mixture. CONSTITUTION:1-70pts.wt. liquid diene rubber (ii) is block-polymerized with 100pts.wt. nylon (i) to form a copolymer (I). Said copolymer (I) and a vulcanizable rubber (II) such as natural rubber are blended together in such a proportion as to give 1-50pts.wt. component (i) per 100pts.wt. of the combined amount of components (ii) and (II). The resulting compsn. is melt-extruded at a temp. higher than the m.p. of the copolymer, but not higher than 250 deg.C to fiberize the copolymer and at the same time to effect grafting between components (ii) and (II), whereby a reinforced rubber compsn. can be obtd. This compsn. can be vulcanized by adding conventional ingredients such as a vulcanizing agent. USE:Materials for belts, hoses and foot wears.
