Magnetic disk device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of an off-track caused by the difference of heat expansion, by covering a magnetic disk device cover part with a heat insulating cover containing a heat insulator and a heating means to hold the temperature within the cover at a certain level. CONSTITUTION:A cover 1 which protects a magnetic disk 4, a carriage 5, a head holding arm 6, a head 7, etc. is made of plastic for example. The outside of the cover 1 is covered with a heat insulting cover 12 containing a heater like a nichrome wire and a heat insulator like a glass mat. The temperature within the cover 1 is detected by a temperature sensor 13, and the heating current of the heater is turned on and off in accordance with the detected temperature. Thus the temperature inside the cover 1 is kept at a certan level. Then the reading/ writing is carried out to the disk 4. In such way, an off-track is eliminated to increase the reliability.
