Novel phenolic compound and its preparation

Abstract

Abstract NEW MATERIAL:The phenolic compound of formulaI(R1 and R2 are H or CH3). EXAMPLE:1.4-Di(2-p-hydroxyphenyl-2-propyl)benzene. USE:Raw material of high-performance thermoplastic polymer (e.g. polycarbonate, polyester, etc.) and surface active agent. Stabilizer or its raw material. The product derived from the compound has much improve heat resistance and adhesivity. The effect of a stabilizer at high temperature can be elongated. PROCESS:The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by reacting phenol with a compound selected from the group of formula II, formula III and formula IV in the presence of an acidic condensation agent (e.g. sulfuric acid, boron trifluoride, etc.) at -20-+100 deg.C.
