Preparation of polyester molded article having metallized surface

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the titled molded article having uniform adhesivity to a plating film and improved surface appearance, by treating a molded article of a resin comprising a specific aromatic polyester and an aliphatic polyester with an alkali solution so that the surface is made rough. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. mixture consisting of (A) 55-99wt% polybutylene terephthalate or polyethylene terephthalate and (B) 45-1wt% aromatic copolyester (e.g., polybutylene terephthalate isophthalate, etc.) is blended with (C) 1- 90pts.wt., preferably 3-60pts.wt. aliphatic polyester[e.g., poly(epsilon-caprolactone), etc.]to give a molded article of a resin, which is immersed in an alkali aqueous solution (e.g., 5-50wt% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, etc.) at 30-95 deg.C for 1-120min, the molded article is washed with water and plated.
